Live Music in Summer 2023
Austin is already known as the capital of live music for the Southwest, and you will see why when you visit this summer. A variety of live concert events are on the calendar making sure there is something for everyone. If you grew up in the 2000s you will not want to miss out on the Sad Summer Festival that will be bringing out the emo and alternative bands of our youth. Enjoy a festival with headliners including Taking Back Sunday, The Maine, Hot Mulligan, and more. Additional summer concerts taking place this season include Kid Rock, Drake, Gorillaz, Snoop Dogg, and many more. Now that’s a lot of summer concert fun!
Austin Summer Events at the Zilker Summer Musical
The summer season also brings out live musical productions found at Zilker Hillside Theater making for an all-ages event. Their summer includes hosting the Zilker Summer Musical, a free musical of their annual production taking place outside the theater. Their theater troupe will host live performances Thursday through Sunday during the weeks from July 7th through August 12th. The shows start around 8:15 pm and take place on the lawn so make sure you pack a blanket and a picnic!
Hot Summer Nights
In late July you will find the Red River Cultural District putting on their annual Hot Summer Nights, a festival like no other. Local vendors will be on hand slinging out delicious food and unique items making for perfect gifts. Also make sure to check out live music with local acts such as Golden Dawn Arkestra, Emily Wolfe, and more. Hot Summer Nights started as a way to help a community during the slower months of the summer and has since turned into one of the hottest festivals Austin has to offer each year. Enjoy Hot Summer Nights from July 20th through the 23rd.
