Time to Start the 4th of July Austin Celebration

The pandemic put a serious damper on celebrations in 2020, so we are all thankful that we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel; not all gatherings are taking place this summer, but the biggest and best is back in play. The Austin Symphony H-E-B July 4th Concert & Fireworks is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM, and we could not be more excited! This has traditionally been the largest show in town and this year promises to be no different, so be sure to stake your claim on a spot early. Held at Vic Mathias Shores, the best spots to view the display are from the auditorium or any of three bridges in the area, including South First Street Bridge, Congress Bridge, or Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge. This display of colorful fireworks is mirrored in the waters of Lady Bird Lake below, so be sure to find a spot that allows you to watch it both ways! Want to enjoy a traditional all-American picnic while waiting for the free fireworks show to begin? Stop by Lucy’s Fried Chicken on the way to the event and pick up some of the best fried chicken you have ever tasted for the show! This fireworks show is a popular one, so you will want to bring a blanket to sit on (no room for chairs) and fried chicken somehow tastes better when enjoyed on a picnic blanket!

Memories Made Here

After you have licked the last of the fried chicken off your fingertips and the final glittering sparks have burned out, there is no need to feel sad as you head “home” to the luxury and comforts found in our Austin Vacation Rentals holiday hideaways. Reserve yours today!

Fourth of July is almost upon us, and we know where you should be spending yours: Austin, Texas! Everything’s bigger in Texas, and that includes an Austin 4th of July celebration that will put your hometown’s to shame. The hardest decision is what party to go to!

Willie Nelson

The iconic country singer Willie Nelson is headlining his 46th annual 4th of July Picnic, which lasts all day and includes stars like Johnny Bush, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, and Alison Kraus playing on not one, but two stages! Doors at the Austin360 Ampitheatre open at 11, while the music starts from 11:30 until the fireworks display after sunset.

Austin Symphony

The Austin Symphony is never to be outdone, so they’re also hosting their annual Austin 4th of July concert of patriotic tunes. You probably wouldn’t have guessed this, but this is actually the largest celebration in the state! The concert starts at 8:30pm, with a firework display over Lady Bird Lake afterward, at about 9:30pm. Located on Vic Mathias Shores, it’s important to show up early to get the perfect grassy spot to kick back and enjoy the show.

Hill Country Galleria

We’re personally leaning towards the Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Celebration, for the sole reason that we want to bring our dogs along! This dog-friendly festival is completely free and has a million and one activities to keep you occupied all day long. This is a party for locals, by locals, including some of the area’s awesome art vendors – over 100 arts & crafts booths to peruse – plus live music starting at 4pm on the outdoor stage.

We expect to eat our weight in the festival’s barbecue and festival food, not to mention making pit stops at some of the regular restaurants and bars located there. We’re not worried about it, though, because we’ll be spending hours moving around, either trying to ride all of the countless fair rides, or shopping ’til we drop to take some of the unique handmade jewelry, clothing, and artwork back home with us! This place also has its own jaw-dropping fireworks display at the end of the night!
