If you’re looking for a fun springtime vacation or getaway that’s a little different than the norm, check out all that Austin, Texas has to offer! With spring temperatures that are much warmer than a lot of northern states, you can get a taste of summer early on in the year. This also makes Austin a great place to explore the outdoors. But don’t worry about that Texas heat, up until June it stays well below 90 degrees, so you’ll be comfortable and not melting like a snowman in July! Get Outside

Austin is picture-perfect in the spring, so bring your camera along and get out on an adventure to find the perfect shots. If you want a good view of a sunset, head to Pennybacker Bridge on 360. Check out the peacocks at Mayfield Park, or hike up the gentle hill of Mount Bonnell for a beautiful view of the lake. At Lady Bird Lake you can hike or bike the 10-mile Ann and Roy Butler trail and enjoy peeks of the Austen skyline through the leafy green trail. For mountain biking, check out the Barton Creek Greenbelt; the trail features a variety of terrains and is set in the beautiful landscape of cliffs along Barton Creek. While you’re in the area, see if you can find our hidden falls! Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls are both in the Barton Creek Greenbelt area and require some hiking to reach, but we think they’re worth the challenge! For an adrenaline spike, try the Lake Travis Zipline Adventure, where you can ride the longest zipline in Texas! This is one of the best spring activities in Austin to explore.

Texas Hill Country

This is a great area to head to if you’d like to see Texas in bloom. The meadows explode into a colorful painting of bluebonnets every spring. In Fredericksburg, you can visit Wildseed Farms, a wildflower farm full of blooming fields. And if you’re in Burnet in April, you can attend the annual Bluebonnet Festival! After a day of exploring the blooming fields, make your way back to Austin though Dripping Springs’ Distillery District and get a whiff of the spirits, or head to the Driftwood Wine Trail and sample award winning local wines.

Authentic Austin

Spring is festival season in Austin, and no one does festivals quite like we do. For instance, come for the Moontower Comedy Festival and enjoy shows from the funniest, and maybe weirdest, comedians out there. Or there’s the Fusebox Festival, which is a hybrid mash up of creativity celebrating visual arts, theatre, film, music and dance. And let’s not forget the food around here! The Austen Food and Wine Festival is not one to be missed – although, you can enjoy fare from an abundance of amazing restaurants and food trucks in Austin any time of year! At The Picnic, grab a table, and make the rounds at this foodie paradise – a food truck trailer park! From authentic Italian pastas and organic grain bowls to vegan breakfast tacos or cheesy Detroit style pizza, you might have a hard time not staying here all day!
