These thrilling tales are sure to send a chill down your spine and get you in the Halloween spirit!

House of Torment

This truly spooky haunted attraction is graphic enough that the creators suggest all attendees be 12 years of age or older. Make your way through Hollywood-quality sets, where the scenes and actors have a spookily real quality. Meet The Boogeyman face to face, make your way through a prison’s machine shop, laundry room, and other various industrial spaces, and try to keep the hallucinations at bay as extreme colors and clown-like figures fill your vision. Displays, actors, and sounds all come together to create a hauntingly real experience. A visit to Austin’s House of Torment is not for the faint of heart!

Trick or Drink: Austin Halloween Bar Crawl

Bar crawl Halloween style at this event put on by the Kung Fu Saloon. This three-day event gets you into participating bars with no cover and plenty of drink specials. Check in at Kung Fu Saloon to get a wristband and a map of participating Austin bars and then enjoy an evening of frightful fun at some of Austin’s best haunts! Some of the participating bars include The Dogwood, SOHO Lounge, The Cat’s Pajamas, Kung Fu Saloon, Happy Chicks, BBG’s, Speakeasy, and Recess Arcade Bar, among others.

Boo at the Zoo

Spend Halloween with the animals at The Austin Zoo, a family-friendly event looked forward to every year. The kids can don their cutest costumes, and though adults are also welcome to come in costume, no adult masks are allowed, putting the emphasis on fun rather than spooky. Go on a train ride, wander through the mansion, and enjoy the festively decorated zoo grounds. As an added bonus, this evening event provides a great opportunity for observing the zoo’s nocturnal animals! In 2021, Boo at the Zoo will be held on October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, and 30th from 6:30-9pm.

Halloween Children’s Concert

Provide a rich cultural experience for the kids while also getting into the Halloween spirit! The Halloween Children’s Concert put on by the Austin Symphony is a great way to expose the whole family to symphonic music. The orchestra will be playing pieces from the fairy tale opera Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, along with a narrator that will retell this classic tale, keeping the entire family entertained. Dress up in your favorite costume to enjoy this family-friendly Halloween event at the Long Center, which will be fully decorated with eye-catching Halloween displays. This event will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 3pm.

Pumpkin Nights at Pioneer Farms

Pioneer Farms is a living history museum that offers families the chance to step back in time and experience Texas farm life in the 1800s first-hand. Throughout the month of October, Pioneer Farms puts on a spectacular Halloween-themed lights display every night of the week, with the exception of Tuesdays. Wander along themed trails that lead to 10-foot Jack O’ Lanterns, the world’s largest pumpkin guitar, a flying 40-foot handmade dragon, a life-size pumpkin pirate ship, and an assortment of other creative pieces designed from pumpkins. Pumpkin carving classes and a Night Owl Ghost Tour will also be offered on select nights in October. In addition to the natural learning that occurs with a visit to Pioneer Farms, their special Halloween events are a great way to enjoy a family evening out!
