Austin is the best spot to spend your Spring Break with tons of exciting activities and attractions await you. Here is how can spend your Spring Break in Austin:
Enjoy Some Time at the Lakes
Spring Break is a time when the weather is starting to warm up here in Austin with the sun shining high in the sky. This makes it a perfect time to hit the local lakes and enjoy the sunshine. Austin is home to our very own Lady Bird Lake. This local reservoir is located right in the middle of the city, making it easy to access from all of our vacation rentals. While there is no swimming permitted at Lady Bird Lake, you can enjoy plenty of water based activities. Many locals and visitors will pick up a boat rental and spend the day out on the water. There are quite a few rental shops located around the shores of Lady Bird Lake, including Austin Rowing Club, Rocking Dock, and Zilker Park Boat Rentals. You can pick up canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and more. Many of these local shops will also provide lessons and tours of the lake. Picking up the rentals is super easy and will have you taking off from their location. Come check out Lady Bird Lake over Spring Break!
Attend SXSW Music, Film, and Interactive Conference and Festival
Austin is known for offering a variety of festivals throughout the year that attract thousands of visitors to the city. One of our most popular festivals just so happens to take place around Spring Break. Of course, we are talking about SXSW! This is a massive music, film, and interactive media festival that is over a week in length. You can stop by many of the pop up activities or purchase festival passes that will get you into festival events. The music portion of the festival tends to be the most popular and attracts some of the biggest names in music to Austin. Previous years have brought in artists such as Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, and many more. The music festival is show cased this year from March 7th through the 15th. You will be able to catch big name acts at intimate venues for a truly unique experience. SXSW will also showcase many movie and TV show premiers too. The interactive media focuses on technology, video games, and other social activities. Festival passes are still available for this year’s SXSW.
St. Patrick’s Day
One of the big holidays that tends to overlap with Spring Break here in Austin is St. Patrick’s Day. This holiday tends to be an adult focused day where you will go out in search of your favorite Irish ale and grub from local taverns. Whether you are looking for green beer or something else Austin has plenty of Irish pubs for you to explore.
