Find the Moonlight Towers
Austin has been around for over 100 years with its inception taking place back in the 1800s. During this time frame electric streetlights did not exist. Starting in 1894 the city put up 13 different moonlight towers that would provide the only form of light at night. The towers continue to remain up here in the city and are often referred to in famous movies and TV; you can hear Matthew McConaughey himself refer to them in the movie Dazed and Confused when he utters “Party at the moontower”.
