It may be hard to believe, but Memorial Day Weekend is just around the corner, which of course means summer is just about here and we are already halfway through the new year. We at I Love Dripping Springs can’t explain how time flies so quickly but we can invite you to explore the all-American delights found in our all-American home of Dripping Springs, also known as the “Gateway to Hill Country.” This guide to the top things to do in our hometown over the 2025 Dripping Springs Memorial Day Weekend will ensure that you don’t miss a single moment of the fun and excitement during your visit!
Spend Dripping Springs Memorial Day in Founders Memorial Park
Dripping Springs is a family oriented town, offering all manner of family-friendly adventures, and we can’t think of a better way to enjoy our family than by spending a day exploring all that Founders Memorial Park has to offer. Located at 419b Founders Park Road, your tiniest travelers will have a blast scrambling all over the various playscapes found throughout, and because a picnic in the park is a tradition we can all get behind, this park also offers picnic pavilions for your al fresco meal adventures. Also offering a variety of shaded picnic areas, the Katherine Cannon Walking Trail, sports courts, AND a skatepark, you really will be able to spend the entire day at the park. We haven’t mentioned temperatures yet, but even as Memorial Day is often considered the kick-off to summer, by the end of May we have already begun to experience the heat of the season, and as such, the Founders Memorial Pool that is a part of the park is expected to be the hot spot this Memorial Day Weekend!
Hiking Through the Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center, 24814 Hamilton Pool Road
The stunning verdant beauty of the Dripping Springs landscape is the star of the show at this 76-acre nature preserve, offering a beautiful look into the wild side of Texas. Reservations must be made to tour or hike the preserve, so if you are in the planning process of your Dripping Springs vacation right now, it may be a good time to make your reservations. Offering guided tours that take you through arid savannahs to waterfalls and grotto pools, there are also photography guided hikes offered as well as a guided forest bathing hike. The latter is based on a Japanese practice of “bathing in the forest atmosphere” but we can assure you, there is no actual bathing involved. Instead, it is more of a total immersion into the forest, feeling the air, hearing the birds cry, and seeing all the green that this part of Texas offers and when the hike is over you will feel relaxed, serene, and at peace with who you are.

Shopping the Memorial Day Sales
Shopping while on vacation is a time-honored tradition, and shopping while Memorial Day sales are going on is just the cherry on the top of a very delicious sundae! Historic Mercer Street is known for offering a large selection of shops, stores, and boutiques, many of which are located inside buildings that have been around for 100 years or more. Vintage Soul, located at 302 Mercer Street, is a boutique that appeals to those with a hippy soul, offering clothing, accessories, even home décor that will add a Texas tinge to your midwestern home style. Thrift shopping has become a popular activity for shoppers all over the world, and Haute Exchange offers a large selection of gently used designer clothing, shoes, accessories, and purses, ensuring a good time will be had by all bargain hunters. Starrs on Mercer, Revel Wilde, and the Juniper Tree Market are more shops you will kick yourself if you don’t visit!
Sip and Savor at Bell Springs Winery, 3700 Bell Springs Road
Up until this point we have had you running around town, hiking, exploring, and all sorts of energetic activities, but now it is time to sit back, savor some really excellent wine, and slow down the pace with a visit to Bell Springs Winery. Offering tastings, live music, and a menu filled with casual foods designed to perfectly complement the wines you are sipping, there really is no place else we would rather be on a lazy spring day in May. If you fall in love with a particular bottle, you don’t have to return to Dripping Springs every time you run low; you can just order online, as long as you don’t live outside the country or in a state that doesn’t permit alcohol delivery via mail.
Revel in Luxury
Whether you have been sedately sipping, swimming at the Founders Memorial Pool, or tromping around the Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center, coming home to I Love Dripping Springs and our holiday hideaways will be the best part of every day! Remember That Trip?
Remember that trip you took to Paris for your 50th birthday when you stood on the street outside Victor Hugo’s apartment, reveling in the fact that you were walking in the footsteps of a celebrated author? Or the trip you took to Key West and you not just toured Ernest Hemingway’s art deco home, but you also were able to sit in his favorite seat at Sloppy Joes, the local watering hole he made his own? Chances are you have souvenirs that you bought from those travels, an Eiffel Tower keychain, a tie-dye tank top emblazoned with the name Sloppy Joes, or even an etching of Hemingway’s home, all items that bring a smile to your face as they remind you of the good times you had on those trips of a lifetime. These Dripping Springs souvenir shops may not offer the panache of Hemingway or the style of Gustave Eiffel, but they will help you retain the memories of your serene and exciting Dripping Springs getaway.
Juniper Tree Market, 301 W Mercer Street Suite A
There once was a time when General Stores were the hub of gossip in our small American towns, as well as places where shoppers could buy everything from fabric to peaches. Today, you have to go far to find a general store, but when in Dripping Springs, the Juniper Tree Market won’t be far from your Texas sanctuary. Selling souvenirs, gifts, and greeting cards, as well as jewelry, cookbooks, and even gifts for teachers, spending an hour or two in Juniper Tree will be memorable.

Homespun Kitchen and Bar, 131 E Mercer Street
Even if your children tend to turn their noses up when offered new foods, the menus offered at Homespun are destined to entice them to spread their culinary wings. Open different hours every day of the week and offering delicacies that include catfish platters and steak burgers, the casual vibe of Homespun Kitchen and Bar will help your kids fit in and their selection of over 300 whiskeys will help parents truly relax.

Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen, 100 Commons Road Suite 9
It can be hard to ensure that our children eat healthy foods, especially as the bad stuff just tastes so darn good, but the farm to table foods served at Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen will make you feel better about what they are eating. Open every day at 11 and closing at various times, their expansive menu of hot and cold sandwiches will appeal to everyone in your traveling party.
Something Fancy
Dripping Springs is a casual town, a place where people tend to dress simply and not put on airs, but there are times when a fancy meal makes us happy. Every special occasion is made more special with an excellent meal and the following restaurants, including our favorite in nearby Austin, always rise to the occasion being celebrated.
Tillie’s, 3509 Creek Road
Our hometown favorite has been the place to visit for special occasions almost since the first day it opened. Tillie’s, open every day of the week, provides a fine dining experience with expertly crafted food, drinks, and desserts, and their farm to table creations will make you wish you never had to take that last bite. Finish off your meal with their chocolate trio mousse and you will discover that dreams do come true!
Hestia, 607 W 3rd Street #105
A road trip to Austin is necessary for this super special establishment that is next on our list of fancy restaurants, but we think you will find that the extra driving time is definitely worth it. Hestia, open only for dinner, is closed on Mondays, offers an intimate upscale dining experience for which reservations are required. For the best meal of your life, we 100 percent recommend the Chef’s Tasting Menu featuring 13 courses of seasonal selections and when accompanied by the wine pairings, will be the meal you remember for the rest of your life.
The Kitchens That Feel Like Home
Home means different things to different people, but we can guess that most happy memories of home revolve around the kitchen which is why we take extra care to make our spaces special. Name-brand ranges, stone countertops, and that inexorable sense of cheer and family will make our guests feel at home, even as they are thousands of miles away from their own backyards. Not every meal has to be eaten at a local restaurant and when you spend your evening at home with I Love Dripping Springs you will create memories that will last a lifetime. Reserve your favorite escape today!
