Our rental homes are located in Travis Heights, which is right near Downtown Austin and South Congress Street. Locals agree that the neighborhood is the perfect place to stay no matter what you want to do in Austin.
Downtown Austin offers many sightseeing attractions, such as The Warehouse District, where you can enjoy, food, libations and music in renovated vintage warehouses, Second Street where you can do a little shopping at a variety high-end stores and West Sixth Street, where you can satisfy your inner hipster with craft cocktails and the best of Austin’s independent dining scene. Roaring Fork has been making headlines with its incredible fine dining menu that is perfect for a romantic dinner. Of course, barbecue is an important staple in the city, so indulge yourself at Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que. After dinner is taken care of, enjoy some handmade libations. The Roosevelt Room features your classic cocktails given a clever twist for a unique experience. More and more breweries keep popping up over Austin; enjoy local favorites such as Blue Owl with their sour specialty beers or Jester King, which is worth the long drive.
South Congress Street is known as the artsy section of town and offers many unique restaurants, galleries, and shops. SoCo, what the locals call this section of Congress, will keep you busy for hours on end. Stop in Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds for some incredible retro clothing and costumes (rumor has it that Bob Dylan frequently shops here). Or pick up the perfect knickknack at Uncommon Objects, where you can find unique items not available anywhere else. Of course, delicious restaurants are on hand such as Vinaigrette Off South Congress.
Renowned architects designed beautiful creations that can be viewed from all over the city. The saying goes that everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes the buildings. The historic Texas State Capitol is the only state building that is bigger than our national capitol building. You can join in on a guided tour that will take you through all of the public rooms while getting to know more about Texas history. Football is bigger and better in Texas as well, so make sure to check out the Longhorns while the University of Texas is in session. You will not find a more ambitious support group than the fans of Longhorn football. The tailgating will show you how true fans get ready for a game!
To cap off your exciting stay in Austin, do not forget to check out one of the many music venues in town.
